4 tips for working from home

Due to the outbreak of corona-virus, millions of people all over the world will be forced to work remotely. For many companies and their employees it’s a new challenge and revolution. My full-time job requires lots of traveling. I’m used to work from many different places: hotels, airports, cars and offices.

How to turn your remote work into productive experience?

In this post I’m going to share pieces of advice, based both on my personal experience and suggestions which I have received over the years. I want to help you to make working from home effective and pleasant 🙂

1. Get dressed, do your hair and make up

I know that the idea of wearing your pyjamas for the next two weeks is tempting. Unfortunately, it slips you into relaxed mindset. Think of working from home like working from your office. Wear comfy clothes, wash your hair and do your make up if it’s your daily routine.

What’s more, keep in mind that you might be required for unexpected video call 😉 I feel much better and comfortable when I’m always ready to join an online meeting 🙂

2. Prepare a proper workspace

You are lucky if you have a proper office space at home with a desk and chair. If it’s located in your bedroom I’d suggest not using it, as you’ll have an impression of never ending work.

I don’t have a desk in my flat but I have a table in my living room and this is my working area. When I work from home I remove all decorations and transform it into my little home office 🙂

One more important thing to remember is to take short breaks to stretch or move around (but not into the direction of your fridge ;p).

3. Keep your regular working hours

Start and finish your work as if you were in the office. It will help you to keep your work – life balance. Plan your working day and prepare TO DO LIST with all your tasks. Don’t forget about proper breaks – a cup of tea or coffee. You can also use the advantage of staying at home and prepare healthy lunch.

4. Do your work out during your would – be commute time

Instead of sleeping longer, get up at the time as you usually do during the week and exercise 🙂 You will start your home office day full of energy and endorphins!
